1. The Green Oasis of Tao Dan Park

Tao Dan Park stands as a peaceful sanctuary in Saigon's bustling heart. Though it might be overshadowed by bigger parks, its charm lies in its serene gardens and ancient trees. During my visit, I was enchanted by the bright flowers and the melodious birdsong surrounding me.

3. The Serene Can Gio Mangrove Forest

For the adventurous at heart, the Can Gio Mangrove Forest is a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve that showcases the region's remarkable ecosystem. Exploring this unusual environment was a thrilling experience for me. It is home to over 200 species of flora and fauna, including playful monkeys and a variety of colorful bird species.

A boat ride through the lush mangroves is a must-do, allowing you to witness the beauty and diversity of this unique habitat. The stillness of the forest, mixed with the sounds of wildlife, creates an experience you won't forget.

4. The Hidden Gem of Le Van Tam Park

Lê Văn Tám Park in District 1 was once Saigon’s main French colonial cemetery. After 1975, the graves were moved and the land was transformed into a public park in the 1980s. Named after young revolutionary hero Lê Văn Tám.

This park may be smaller than others, but it is bursting with dense greenery and beautiful flower beds, making it a lovely retreat.

Lê Văn Tám Park, located in Đa Kao Ward, District 1 of Ho Chi Minh City, is a green escape in the heart of the city. Surrounded by the busy streets of Hai Bà Trưng, Điện Biên Phủ, Võ Thị Sáu, and Phan Liêm, this park is where locals come for their daily exercise, from jogging and aerobics to casual sports. With shady trees, colorful flower gardens, and a playground area for children, it’s a refreshing spot to relax, breathe, and experience the local lifestyle.

During my time there, I found a cozy nook under a massive tree where I could unwind with a book. The park is popular among locals, making it a perfect spot to observe daily life in Saigon. If you're searching for a quiet location to recharge, Le Van Tam Park is definitely worth a stop.

Which bus goes to Lê Văn Tám Park?

You can easily reach Lê Văn Tám Park by bus with the following schedule and fare:

Operating hours: 4:30 AM – 9:00 PM

Ticket price: 7,000 VND per trip

Currently, the bus routes that pass by Lê Văn Tám Park include:

Route 150: Chợ Lớn Bus Station – Tân Vạn Intersection

Route 93: Bến Thành – University of Agriculture and Forestry

Route 91: Thủ Đức Agricultural Market – Miền Tây Bus Station

Route 54: Chợ Lớn Bus Station – Miền Đông Bus Station

5. The Tranquil Suoi Tien Theme Park

Though Suoi Tien is primarily recognized as a theme park, it features exquisite gardens and serene lakes that provide a natural retreat. I was pleasantly surprised by the green spaces and calming atmosphere nestled among the amusement attractions. In 2024, Ho Chi Minh City officially launched its first metro line, connecting Bến Thành in the city center to Suối Tiên. This milestone project marks a new era of modern, efficient transportation in Saigon, easing traffic and opening a faster way to explore the city.

The park's landscaping enhances the theme of nature, with various zones that celebrate Vietnamese culture and myths within beautiful gardens. Wandering through the lush flower beds and calming lakes was a delight, perfectly blending fun with nature.

Final Thoughts

Saigon pulses with energy and its streets buzz, its nights blaze, and its spirit never sleeps. But beneath the surface of this electrifying city lies a quieter rhythm, one that whispers rather than shouts. Hidden among the chaos are pockets of serenity: the gentle rustle of leaves in Tao Dan Park, the nostalgic charm of Binh Quoi Village, and the untamed beauty of Can Gio Mangrove Forest.

These tranquil escapes aren’t just places to unwind. They’re portals. Locals say that if you visit Can Gio at dawn, when the mist still clings to the water and the forest breathes in silence, you might hear stories carried by the wind, tales of old Saigon, of fishermen who vanished into the mangroves, and of spirits that guard the land. What begins as a peaceful retreat could turn into an unexpected journey into the city’s forgotten soul.
